Mission Statement
The Thailand Chamber Music Festival is a not-for-making profit organization. The concerts are free and open to the public for all Thai students and adults. TCMF's mission is to provide and foster a true cultural exchange between Western and Thai cultures. The American and Canadian students and faculty will perform 4 free concerts of string quartets and Western music in Thailand. And our students and faculty will in turn learn much about the Thai cultural events through staying with Thai host families and through the many culture events which we will provide for our students. TCMF affords the students excellent training in classical music and gives its members performing opportunities in concerts with their peers as well as with well-established musicians in Thailand.
Unique to TCMF is its cultural as well as musical approach. The purpose at TCMF is not to produce professional musicians but to instill each member with the invaluable experience by:
- fostering a supportive learning environment
- creating performing opportunities
- providing role models and a bridge to the professional world through performance
- collaborations with eminent musicians
- enriching and involving the Thai community through performances for civic and cultural groups
- learning, by direct experiences, the rich Thai culture.
TCMF is also committed to keeping its programs accessible to the broadest range of families. A certain number of Non-participants will be accepted into the program as well. Fees are kept below the actual costs of operation, a small number of scholarships may be available for exceptional young musicians in true need of financial assistance.
